KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The Japanese Embassy to Malaysia has advised the public to be wary of bogus organisations offering the Japanese government or Monbukagakusho scholarships via email and the internet.
It said it received reports from several Japanese embassies in Africa that unidentified groups had been asking for deposit payments for the scholarship applications.
The Monbukagakusho scholarship applications are processed only by Japanese embassies and consulate generals, or Japanese universities, it said in a statement today.
It said Japanese diplomatic missions abroad would never ask for any deposit or guarantee deposit to be made for the scholarship applications.
Malaysians who are keen to apply for the Japanese government scholarships should get correct information from the Japanese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, it added.
