JPA Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine Scholarship

In recognition of its commitment to attracting physicians, specialists and researchers – including Malaysian citizens working abroad – the Malaysian government has made a profoundly generous offer of support to attract the best and brightest students to Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine. The government will provide funds to eligible Malaysian students entering this programme - Perdana University Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), 5 years.

Public Service Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam, JPA) has agreed to sponsor up to 50 full tuition scholarships with a living expense budget for selected Malaysian students. Please note that if you are applying to JPA for a scholarship that YOU MUST ALSO submit a separate application form for admission to PUGSOM.

  • Not more than 20 years old on 1 January 2011 
  • Posesses a full SPM certificate that qualifies the candidate for appointment to civil service (distinction in Bahasa Malaysia including the oral test at SPM level or other equivalent qualifications that are recognised by the government) 
  • In good health (not infected with critical diseases such as Hepatitis, AIDS etc) 
  • Pre-university
    • STPM: Minimum CGPA 3.50 including passes in 3 of the following subjects (mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics) OR
    • Matriculation: Minimum CGPA 3.50 including passes in 4 of the following subjects (English, mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics) OR
    • A level: Minimum 12 points include 1A and 2B in 3 of the following subjects (mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics) OR
    • AUSMAT: Minimum Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 90 OR
    • IB: Minimum 33 points (not inclusive of bonus points)
  • English language requirement
    • MUET: Minimum Band 4 OR
    • TOEFL: 550 points for the written test, 230 points for the computer test, 92 for the Internet based test (iBT) OR
    • IELTS: Minimum Band 6.5

  • All Malaysian students are encouraged to apply for a JPA scholarship if considering applying to PUGSOM
  • Visit for the scholarship form beginning 27-June
  • Students may apply for the JPA scholarship before submitting an application to PUGSOM
  • The JPA application form will be available from 27-June until 4-July
