Beginning 1 January 2012, students applying for PTPTN education loans must have an SSPN account with minimum savings of RM20.00.
PTPTN has released an statement to the press earlier this week announcing that account opening must be done through Maybank or Bank Islam for year 2012. This is because most of the other SSPN agents have not upgraded their account opening system to the latest version. Hence, SSPN/PTPTN agents other than Maybank and Bank Islam will not be able to process new SSPN account opening. Opening of SSPN accounts through other banks would only be allowed after this year.
For those who already have an SSPN account, their could increase their savings through all existing channels such as
- Maybank
- Bank Simpanan Nasional
- Agrobank
- CIMB Bank
- Bank Islam
- Bank Rakyat
- PTPTN counters
For those who have been admitted to the university or graduated, you can choose to close your SSPN account.
